Came here to try to figure out why Netflix keeps freezing and losing audio while watching episodes of a TV series. The Netflix app will now be downloaded and updated. If you open up Netflix only to find that everyone on the screen is speaking in a language you don’t understand, you’ll need to change the main language. Update the Netflix app on the notebook. I use this and I NEVER have to make any seleciton for audio or video, anything in HD or DD 5.1 plays in that format.
If it does not, select the Netflix app. To fix this problem, head over to the settings and fix them from within your profile on Netflix's website.

The Settings section is next on your account page. Select Install at the bottom of the screen. When kids came along, I found all movies and cartoons with Spanish audio for them.
It's really annoying.I asked their support chat about this a while back and was told that if you play something - specifically something with a maturity rating no lower than "Teens" - for at least five minutes with your preferred language settings it'll remember it in the future. Just the audio + subs that don't want to switch to a new default (a.k.a, the old default)! Navigate to Settings, and then select Sound.
The WDTV box has these settings under Setup; is there no way for Netflix app to read those settings and apply them automatically?Could we at least make the “Audio” and “Subtitles” buttons on the remote control work for Netflix app the way they do for local videos?No, there is no way, and I don’t think there ever will, as the PS3’s Netflix app (and a few others I’ve used) doesn’t support this either.
The Netflix audio wasn’t quite as sharp or defined as the Blu-ray disc.
I watch all my stuff in English audio and with English subtitles turned on, but changed it yesterday to French audio as a one-time thing. Sometimes the problem of No Sound on Netflix in Windows 10 is related to the video being set to a sound option which is not supported by your computer. Netflix’s foreign language content keeps growing, which is good news for those of us who like learning other languages and cultures. Under 'Parental Controls' you can limit a single user’s Account usage as per your requirement. Select Expert Settings, and then select Digital Output Audio Format. Netflix on the Apple TV remembers that I want English subtitles and automatically enables them.Relatively few movies on Netflix are DD5.1 (mostly TV shows).Even HD is a small subset (relative) to the entire collection here.
