We tookWe shared another drink in the Tasting Room after the tour, opting for a glass of Fettercairn whisky due to its personal significance: one of Geoff’s great great (and maybe even a third great) grandfathers was the maltman at Fettercairn distillery, way back in the day.All in all, we spent about 90 minutes to 2 hours at the Scotch Whisky Experience, which was the right amount of time for us as non-connoisseurs.Admittedly, this itinerary gets a bit boozy at this point, but you could very easily use this time to head back to your hotel to freshen up, or just order a soft drink or mocktail. If you’re in need of some more stimulation, check out one of Edinburgh’s famous ghost tours, which take you into the city’s underground vaults and horrify with gruesome stories of old Edinburgh. The tour lasted for 5 days and before I went home, I spent 2 days in Edinburgh, exploring the city, getting my Harry Potter fix and eating lots of delicious food. A sweaty 45-minute to 1-hour walk up, the view when you get there is worth it, and it’s especially nice at sunrise or sunset. With just one day in Edinburgh, we recommend starting your day early and catching sunrise from up top Arthur’s Seat. Have breakfast at Hula Juice Bar. It is said that Bobby and Gray were best friends until Gray passed away in 1858. Of course, he bought a bottle to bring home! I love Edinburgh, I think it’s one of my favourite cities in the world. I would love the underground vault tour! It’s funny because things are so walkable and close together for the most part that you can easily fit it all in. It’s the one view I reeeeeally want to get to.Thanks so much Josy!
Great itinerary! Thanks, Carrie. Edinburg is one of my fav cities! Go all out with your sandwich by adding stuffing, apples, and some awesome sauce. It’s a lot of walking so make sure you wear a comfortable pair of shoes! There are a number of tours out there, but If you have any energy left at all, pick an area and organize your own DIY pub hop.
Definitely worth putting on your list.We stayed at Cityroomz. The vault tour was pretty awesome. I want to go back! Fortunately our local guide Alan was full of knowledge and love for his country and his cuisine. Your Edinburgh Itinerary: 3 Perfect Days in Edinburgh We spent 3 days in Edinburgh, Scotland and oh man what a fantastic city! The best of Edinburgh in one perfect day Edinburgh is one of my favourite cities in the world for many reasons – the people are friendly, it’s small enough to explore in a day, one of Europe’s most beautiful sights looms over you from almost everywhere, there are lots of free things to do and the food and drink scene rivals that of any other capital city. The Oink looks interesting – living in SE Asia, I see roasted pigs everywhere but more in a barbaric manner – not displayed in a restaurant window! I hope you get to go soon!So many things to see in 2 days! Speaking of Scotland, the images popping in your head are whisky and kilts, more warriors than lovers. I think that is why we love Europe so much. We walked in a complained as there was mold in our room and bathroom. I have been wanting to go to Edinburgh for ages, definitely will have to save this for when I am back in Europe.Edinburgh looks gorgeous!
