In 1372 Okinawa came under the feudal control of China. Miyake Sensei was the All-Japan Champion in Shito-Ryu Shuko-Kai in 1982 and the 1988 U.S.A Karate Federation National Champion. Shihan Morris described Shukokai as apparently having everything that other styles did not:It was during his visit to Sensei Tani's dojo that Shihan Morris met Sensei Shigeru Kimura and recognised immediately that he was one of the world's great karate instructors. Shukokai Karate-Do, a style famous for its hard hitting techniques and scientific approach to body kinetics. His first move was to ban the carrying of swords by anyone, noble or peasant. In 1669 the ban on Okinawans having weapons was re-stated and the practice of Okinawa-te went further underground and was practised in great secrecy.
The largest school which does this is the Japanese Shito-Ryu, headed by Sensei Mabuni.Traditionally, the Shorin-Ryu style is lighter and faster than Goju-Ryu, and the stances are generally higher.
