The groundwater study began with a review of all current and historical data relating to the regional groundwater and the Western Mount Lofty Ranges Water Allocation Plan.
The Bird-in-Hand mine was the largest of these mines producing 10,500 ounces of gold at an average grade of 12.9g/t in the late 1800’s. If matters are not sufficiently addressed, Terramin may be required to provide an additional revised Response Document.Following a decision on the applications, the decision will be published, and anyone who made a submission during the consultation period will be notified in writing.Terramin submitted two primary applications for the Bird in Hand Gold Project, to meet the requirements of the The Department for Energy and Mining has declared the mining proposal and management plan submitted in support of the Bird in Hand Gold Project adequate for assessment.Every mining application must follow a specific process. Bird In Hand Gold Mine, setting new standards in low impact mining. Geotechblasting Community Presentation. Terramin propose development of an underground gold mine near Woodside on the site of the Historic Bird in Hand gold mine, approximately 5 km south-southeast of Lobethal. TERRAMIN Australia has released a feasibility study that outlines how the company can resurrect the historical Bird in Hand mine using its suspended Angas facility in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia, with plans to recover some 44,700 ounces per annum of gold and 20,600ozpz of silver over four years. This work has shown that the majority of groundwater is confined to fractured rock zones which can be identified in the geological drilling and that the aquifer is amenable for Managed Aquifer Recharge.Conceptual graphic showing the investigation wells installed in July 2014Other environmental work to date has included a flora and fauna study, which incorporated a field survey, conducted in October 2014. A groundwater and bore census is underway in co-operation with 37 local Landowners, which has included over 70 bores to date. The Project proposes to have an underground access with a cut and fill mining method, flotation and gravity concentration, to produce doré and gold concentrate. Discover the methodology behind our development-asset database, along with a sample... Terramin Australia Ltd bought the site in 2013 and proposes to reopen the mine. Terramin places great importance on early stakeholder engagement to ensure the success of the Bird in Hand Gold Project and maximise the benefits of minerals located beneath the surface in close proximity to local communities.
The statutory process moves through a number of stages. Mining at Bird-in-Hand ceased when a water fracture was intercepted by the underground miners, with the subsequent water inflows being uneconomic to manage with the 1880s’ technology.
Bird-in-Hand Gold Project (Project) is situated on the site of the historic Bird-in-Hand gold mine, located 2.7km from Woodside in the Adelaide Hills, 30km east of South Australia’s capital city, Adelaide and 35km north of Terramin’s existing Angas Zinc Mine (Angas) at Strathalbyn. The Bird-in-Hand mine was one of 17 gold mines in the Woodside goldfield which produced over 30,000 ounces between 1881 and 1889. These mines were last worked in the 1890’s. Several of the wines are also named after former mines in the area. when developing both documents.A mining lease application for the underground gold mine and associated infrastructure at Woodside has been submitted, in accordance with section 35 of the A miscellaneous purposes licence application for the processing of gold ore at the Angas Zinc Mine has been submitted, in accordance with section 53 of the A brief overview of questions, answers and comments from Terramin’s first Bird in Hand Gold Project Community Update Meeting (22/09/2016) Groundwater Workshop Presentation – 22 October 2016.
