Re-gap plugs according to manufacturer's specifications. Must be at least 8 volts on 12-volt systems, or 13 volts on 24 volt systems. If voltage is adequate, listen for buzzing of vibrator during starting. Consult Champion Aerospace Manual L-1363 for proper cleaning procedures. Replace as necessary. (Main and Retard.) Correct as required.Consult Champion Aerospace Manual L-1363, Section 7.11 for internal timing specifications. Inspect ignition switch for possibility of intermittent grounding and proper operation. If the malfunction persists, remove the magneto and check for improper internal timing or improperly timed distributor gears.Check magneto-to-engine timing according to the Engine Manufacturer's instructions.Advance contact assembly out of adjustment (internal timing off).Inspect contact assemblies according to instructions in Section 6-2.3, step 7. QAA has assembled all of those tips, included a Engine may kick back during cranking due to advance timing of ignitionRetard points may not be closing due to improper adjustment or may not be electrically connected in the circuit due to a poor connection.
Test spark plug according to manufacturer's specifications. Then manually push the governor arm to idle and feel the spring resistance increase as the RPM drops. Correct as required. Inspect for faulty wiring, timing, or inoperative contact points. Correct as necessary. If this does not correct trouble, remove magneto and check for improper internal timing or improperly timed distributor gears.Check magneto-to-engine timing according to the Engine Manufacturer's instructions. Plug lead should throw a 3/16-inch spark. Consult engine manufacturer's specification for proper operation and performance Consult engine manufacturer's manual for specifications of ignition timing. The magneto on your lawnmower operates by using the power from the engine to generate alternate currents and send them to the spark plug. Magneto/Magdyno: Contact breaker: Rotation (as viewed from the drive end of the magneto) EasyCap Version: Fitting: Lucas K1F, K2F, KVF, MN2 (ring cam) Brass - Lucas part No. Correct as necessary. Is the spark bluewhite, or redish orange, if the latter it could be bad coil, wires, plugs or points out of adjustment. Confirm tachometer accuracy at RPM where magneto drop noted. Timing pin wedged between electrode and distributor block during timing process. Replace as necessary. Consult engine manufacturer's specifications for proper operation and performance. Sluggish/underpowered SC CASE still driving me crazy. Check both "Switch" and "Retard" circuits. "Low power", NO, without a misfire, but "misfire", yes. Non-impulse magneto not grounded while starter engaged. Inspect for cracks, damage to high tension strap or pigtail connector and integrity of windings. Be sure engine is up to rated RPM (2200-2400). Set the main with the engine at full speed. They deliver a very Hot Spark (if the mag is sending it). Repair or replace as necessary. Inspect ignition switch for possibility of intermittent grounding and proper operation. Tryed retiming , checked carb, rechecked valve lash. Inspect spark plug according to manufacturer's specifications.
But, I would think it would react like any other ignition system that had weak spark, typically hard/no start, or misfiring under load. Inspect distributor towers for evidence of abrasion or excessive burning. Is the timing right? Check wiring.Vibrator-magneto combination not "putting out" electrically.Tum engine in proper direction of rotation nation until retard points just open on number one cylinder position. A good test is shut off the engine, wait 5 minutes or so, it should restart without choke or opening the throttle. Inspect contact assemblies according to instructions in Section 6- 2.1 and adjust and replace parts as necessary.Inspect contact assemblies for proper opening according to instructions in Section 9-2.8.Main contact assembly out of adjustment (internal timing off).Check magneto internal timing according to instructions in according to instructions in Section 9-2.8.Check capacitor according to instructions in Section 7-2.5.Frayed shielding at spark plug terminal, magneto cover, or intermediate point on harness lead.Inadequate shielding ground at spark plug terminal or magneto cover.Remove and replace inner ferrule according to instructions in Section 9-3. Replace as necessary. Magneto gasket residue on accessory case mounting pad. If spark is weak or missing, install new vibrator. My mag had degraded to the point that one plug was getting a weak spark, and the other was getting a VERY weak spark. With the engine up to temperature and at idle speed, lean the idle mix until speed drops, turn rich to good idle, then slightly richer. The inside looked very clean. Examine rotor gear bushings for wear. Correct as necessary.
