Had a puck till started tech diving (gave to my brother and he loves it), use my Petrel for all dives now (has an awesome recreational mode when doing rec dives)I absolutely hated this computer. I've had three different cobalts. I also dove previously with the original Cobalt.I happen to be extremely happy with them.
I do not regret buying it, and would replace it with another if it died or was lost/stolen.IMO the cobalt isn't worth it. Check the firmware version.The first thing the firmware update program does is to delete the previous program in the Cobalt. My brother dives with one and has had to have it serviced a half dozen times.
If it doesn’t complete the process, or isn’t pointed to the correct file on your local hard drive, it won’t have a new program to install, and it won’t come back up. The interface is a delight, and I particularly like the OLED display for night diving. I think you are better off with a wrist mounted one. The ongoing issue with the Cobalt 1 rusting buttons should not be present with the Cobalt 2 (and can be fixed in Cobalt 1 s- you can ask to be sent the new magnets if you have a problem). A fitting at the bottom of the computer connects to the high pressure hose of a scuba diving regulator.
All divelog info, current deco status, settings, etc. Had one on loan for a month while Mares fixed my Nemo Wide and I couldn't send it back fast enough.I have the Atomic Cobalt 2. A green “Connected” message should appear at the bottom of the Cobalt’s screen. It was also challenging to see in low light, and was NOT intuitive.
This warranty does not cover regulators purchased from other than authorized Atomic Aquatics dealers. We recommend that you maintain your Cobalt with the latest firmware version.Go to Main Menu > Settings Menu > System Information. I sent the first one back after about 20-30 dives because one of the buttons stopped working.
During the first 2 years *, Atomic Aquatics warrants all parts of this regulator against defects in materials and workmanship.
I like reliability.
Is the atomic cobalt worth it? This was caused by what amounted to contaminated packaging from the sensor manufacturer.
On a single charge I get a week's worth of diving.When I got my first one, the difference was like my old dive computer was running ms-dos and the Cobalt was like an iPhone.
